About the Scholarship
Bellingham Technical College is the recipient of a generous $10,000 grant from ConocoPhillips. This money has been allocated to fund 1 full-ride scholarships for Lummi Nation tribal members who enroll in one of BTC’s 2-year degrees programs in Process Technology, Instrumentation and Control Technology or Welding Technology.

Qualified Lummi Nation applicants will be individuals who have graduated from high school, another post-secondary institution, or who possess a GED. The successful applicant will be someone who possesses a commitment to succeed and a willingness to represent the Tribe. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of representatives from BTC, ConocoPhillips, and the Lummi Indian Business Council (LIBC).

Scholarship funds will pay for tuition, books and any equipment required by the program (up to $10,000). This scholarship does not guarantee a job after completing the program; however it will provide students with the skills, qualifications and experience necessary to gain employment in the Advanced Manufacturing field. 

You MUST be a Lummi Tribal member to qualify for this scholarship.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Process Technology and Instrumentation Programs often get jobs as process technicians at oil refineries, bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, food processing operations, pulp and paper mills, power plants, metal smelters, and water/sewage treatment plants. Graduates of BTC’s Welding Program often take jobs as welders, cutters, welding machine operators, and foremen. Median wages for these jobs start at $16.05 per hour and go as high as $27.13 per hour.
